Founded by Bishop Bernard McQuaid on the shores of Hemlock Lake in Conesus, New York, O-Neh-Da Vineyard has been producing pure grape wine — unbroken — for over 153 years. The name honors the Seneca word for Hemlock Lake, the water that has nourished these vines since the beginning.
Through Prohibition, through war and economic upheaval, through changing tastes and fashions in winemaking — O-Neh-Da has remained. Committed to a single, simple truth: that great wine needs nothing added.

1872
Founded by Bishop McQuaid
Bishop Bernard McQuaid established the vineyard on the shores of Hemlock Lake to produce authentic sacramental wine for local parishes in the Diocese of Rochester.
1920–1934
Prohibition & Reopening
With the onset of Prohibition, winery operations ceased, though cultivation of some vineyards continued. After Repeal in 1934, the winery reopened and was revitalized.
